Grade School Orientation
The first Grade School Orientation was held last June 23, 2007 at the Grade 1 classroom. Almost all the graders’ parents arrived. Teacher Tina Zamora started the orientation with the presentation of the Nest website and all its features. Parents are regularly updated with their children’s class activities by logging into their class’ blog. The parents were excited to see the pictures of their kids during the first few weeks of class!
Teacher Joyce Orencia of the 1st graders then explained the different developmental traits of children 6-8 years of age. It was an eye-opener for some parents as it explained why their children were behaving the way they were. Teacher Joyce then continued by presenting the first quarter theme of the 1st graders: “I am God’s Special Creation.” This is where all the different skills and subject matter will revolve around in.
Teacher Brian Malabuyoc, the Grade 2-3 teacher, followed by presenting a wonderfully skilled curriculum web having the theme “Ipinagmamalaki ko, ako ay Pilipino!” Teacher Tina spoke again about the great progress and evident initiative of the graders due to their progressive set-up and interactive curriculum.
Other things that took place during the orientation was the introduction of Teacher Dongdong del Corro as the SPED Consultan. Nest being an inclusive school, Teacher Dongdong heads the SPED Program wherein Individualized Educational Programs will be tailor fitted to the needs of the children with special needs and learning disabilities. Also, Teacher Tina asked for the parents’ continuous support for Nest’s different needs, it being a non-stock and non-profit corporation. Currently, the school urgently needs computers for its elementary computer program.
Branching out
Nest has opened a branch located at the Valle Verde Country Club in Pasig City. It is open to 2-3 year olds for school year 2007-2008 and will expand to more levels soon.
