Family Fit-Nest Day!

March 16th, 2009

Last March 7, the Nest families went to the UP Track and Field Oval to have a fun run for the environment. With the help of Daddy Jojo and Mommy Ging Gutierrez and Mommy Fern Ante, we were able to get the support of the UP Mountaineers to help us with the fun run. One of the volunteers, Mr. Pio Fortuno, took amazing pictures of the event..

Thanks to all the families and sponsors specially Greenpeace who supported this amazing event. Sa susunod na takbo!

Sparrows and Robins Moving Up Day

March 13th, 2009

Yesterday the Sparrows and the Robins ended their school year with the Moving Up Day.

After viewing the audio-visual presentations the teacher prepared, each class presented a song and dance number.

The Sparrows danced to the tune “If I Were a Butterfly”

while the Robins danced to two of their favorite classroom songs: “Bow, Bow, Belinda” and “Animal Action (Let’s go to the zoo!).

After the presentations, awards were given to each child. Everyone had fun trying to guess who would get which award.

The program ended with a snack, giving the parents and the kids time to have a small fellowship.

The kids enjoyed performing and seeing their classmates once again. We thank the parents especially for your continued support of Nest activities. The school year couldn’t have been this much of  a success if not for your support and volunteerism.

God bless everyone and happy summer vacation!

Prepositional Poetry

March 4th, 2009

The Loro class is learning about prepositions. We combined the lesson with poetry. Here are some of their prepositional poems :)

During Soccer

by AJ

Since that day we kept on kicking

Beside each other to make a score

Like Beckham, our captain can kick

After the warm-up we had a game

On the line up we decided the positions

Near our our goal, we made a plan

But the Goalee won’t talk

Our Goalee kicked above our head

Till we lost

We enjoyed everything

At my House

by Luito

At my house

Down the stairs

On top of the table

Out the window

Across my friend’s house

Near the kitchen

Inside the cabinet

There is a MOUSE.

Along the Road

by Joanna

Along the road

Out my window

Over the Petronas tower

We saw a bird flying around and around

Under the bird, we saw a parrot

Until the bird was tired

Near the parrot he flew

We passed the Petronas tower

But my mom said, “Let’s take a picture of that.”

During the night I am thinking about the bird

Under my pillow I kept the picture of them

Until I slept while looking at the picture

Animals

by Nathan

Inside that hole, there is a mole

Across the hole, there is a rat, very fat and has a hat

At the mat, there is a cat, the name is Pat, imagine that!

Near the barn there is a cow, practicing his bow.. Wow!

In the jungle, there is a bunny, very funny, that love honey.

Annoying Brothers

by Tracy

Through the woods

Beneath the trees

Before the lake

And towards the bees

Behind the walls are my annoying brothers

Drinking near the pipe’s leak.

Swimming and Picnic day!

March 1st, 2009

It’s the end of a great school year, and what better way to end it than with a pool and picnic party?

Last February 20, 2009 the Sparrows and the Mockingbirds had a pool and picnic party here at Nest School.

It was a fun activity that the kids enjoyed whole- heartedly. Everyone was excited, and the kids really enjoyed swimming like fishes and playing with the beach balls and trying to catch the bubbles (a bubble machine was brought by Alexis of the Sparrows).

After some swimming the kids had a picnic and rested before swimming again.

It was a great experience for the Sparrows and the Mockingbirds. A perfect end to a fun-filled year.

Trip to Manila Zoo

February 20th, 2009

Early Friday morning, the Vertical class together with the Robins and Cardinals arrived at Nest to gather for their trip to the Manila Zoo. The children, together with their teachers, had a short meeting time and the children were reminded of the rules for the trip. They then got into their assigned cars and went to the Zoo in convoy.

As they arrived at the Zoo, they immediately jumped out of the cars and patiently fell in line to get inside.  The children together with their caregivers and teachers first toured around the Kinder Zoo. They were able to see and touch different animals.  A pot bellied pig welcomed them in the entrance and parrots with the keeper put the birds on the children’s head for picture taking.  They experienced riding on an ostrich and on a turtle. They were also able to carry a baby crocodile and wrapped a snake aroud their necks.

Next they went around Manila Zoo. They saw a big elephant eating , sleeping tigers, birds flying in the cage, monkeys hanging in branches, hippopotamus resting in water and many more. As they got tired, they looked for a spot to have a snack and went around again.  After, all the  children went home with a smile on their faces.

The day after the trip, a follow up activity regarding the trip was done.  The children made an animal sculpture using clay. They were also the storytellers for the day. They drew the animals they saw in the zoo and told a story about it in front of their classmates.
