Nest on Mornings@ANC!
Nest directress Tina Zamora, together with Prof. Lillian Juadiong and Daddy Buddy Zabala, guested this morning on Mornings@ANC. The topic was about the Progressive Philosophy at home and in school. Prof. Lillian Juadiong is a professor at the UP Family Life and Child Development Department (UP-FLCD) and is a constant favorite family specialist of leading television shows. Daddy Buddy Zabala is Veda’s father and the guitarist of the band The Dawn.
UP-FLCD ECE students visit Nest!
Every summer the UP Family Life and Child Development Department (UP-FLCD) of the College of Home Economics have an Early Childhood Education (ECE) seminar for teachers, administrators and child practitioners. As part of their seminar, they have field trips to several schools. Nest is honored to be one of them.
The participants had a chance to ask questions about Nest’s preschool and grade school programs, philosophy and curriculum from Teacher Tina Zamora, the school’s directress.
They had a chance to go around and check out the classrooms and the library.
There were 36 participants who visited in 3 smaller groups. Of course, we needed class pictures :) Thanks to Teacher Joy, Teacher Dulce and Teacher April of UP-FLCD!
Grade School Enrichment Programs
There are three Enrichment Programs being offered to the Grade School students (Click on the program name to see pictures of the actual class):
Reading Enrichment – This program improves the reading skills of children using various media to enrich vocabulary, comprehension and literature appreciation.
Filipino Enrichment – Due to insistent parent and teacher demand, this program improves not only the children’s grasp on the Filipino language but also to promote Filipino literature.
Math Enrichment – Math doesn’t have to be all paper-and-pencil activities! This program makes Math fun to learn.

Summer Fun!
Summer is here and Nest has a lot of things in store for you!
First up, Scholastic Learning Center is coming to hold Reading Safari and Meaning Master workshops. Reading Safari and are for preschool children and Meaning Mastery is reading comprehension for older kids.
For the new students of Nest preschool, we have Book Wagon just for you! It’s a preschool class in summer filled with literature-based activities. It gives a sneak peek of the routines and activities of the school year so your child will be accustomed to the school and class routines.
All programs will start on April 15 :)

Another Grade School Orientation slated on Mar. 8!
After 2 Grade School orientations for next school year, another one is scheduled on March 8, 2008 (Saturday) from 9 am to 11 am. So far the orientations have been very informative specially the Q and A portions wherein the parents ask questions regarding the school and its philosophy. For those who are interested to know more about our Grade School, come see us on Mar. 8!
PAWS and Nest in GMA 7’s Emergency
PAWS was featured in a segment in GMA 7’s Emergency last February 15. Part of the segment was about how dogs affected school children and they taped it in Nest during the Science Week. Here’s the whole segment. It will be re aired in Channel 7 on Thursday, February 21, at 4:30 p.m.
Grade School Assessment and Orientation
Last January 19, 2008, incoming graders for School Year 2008-2009 came to take their assessment. Their parents were oriented by Teacher Tina Zamora and the other grade school teachers on how the curricula will be taught next year. It was a blessed interaction between parents and the staff! We would specially like to thank our present parents who came and gave praise to the wonderful things that happened to their children while at Nest. We’re all in this together :)
There is another assessment and orientation slated on February 16, 2008 for classes that still have available slots. We close a class when it reaches 15 students.
